I have a habit of venting on this site, using it to express my despair. It’s a way of reaching out for help or sometimes condemning those I’m upset with, but forthemostpart this website is intended to be an archive of past work, a central location for current events, live streams and recent photos, and a place to document any public activities. The result is that there are too many posts expressing helplessness and negativity while my life is actually more hopeful. In fact, I still believe I have an unbreakable faith. I still believe I’ll win the war even after lost battles. But even as I strive to document critical moments, I should take more time to report the good things that happen in my life. Besides pretty flowers and the occasional rainbow, good things do happen in my life. And sharing more positivity might lead to great things.
Last night I met a friendly couple in passing, though I was so tired I just wanted to get out gf the store. I think I had talked with the man years ago, though I had not thought about it at the time. I was pretty stoned, to be honest. But there was an opportunity to make friends at a time when I’ve been complaining about social isolation. Mission minded, I got my coffee, devoured a doughnut on the walk home, and crashed out. And they seemed like fun, too. I probably looked completely uninterested.
The night before, I had the good fortune to meet the owner of a restaurant that’s opening in town – Thank God we’re getting a Denny’s! I picked him up at an Indian restaurant that had just closed and had refused to serve him. So, I took him to another Indian restaurant where I have made many deliveries and he invited me to join. Even though they were also closing, the owner stayed open for us and continued to serve us after everyone else had gone. Good food, good company, and people doing nice things for each other when we didn’t have to. These things deserve as much of a writeup as the complaints.
Recently, I was in a smoke shop I’ve bought many pipes from. I had just broken yet another and was there to see what he had. The owner has always been very nice to me, often giving discounts. On this night, I looked at a piece I liked but I decided against it because in some ways I’m too picky… so he just gave it to me. I promote his business when I can, but this was above and beyond. Being nice to someone should be more promoted. Maybe then it wouldn’t be so uncommon.
In the mornings there’s often the most beautiful ground fog. It’s difficult to photograph, and I’m usually driving, but every day I see some beautiful scene. Beautiful people, too… sometimes people slip me cash tips, and I often get compliments on my car. The jeep always gets attention, but that’s expected. I get a fair amount of personal compliments, as well, mostly about my beard or the shirt I chose to wear.
I’m still very isolated and depressed. Besides some attention on an adult site, I am mostly ignored and deprived. Nobody knows me or cares about me, this is true. But the future remains unknown, so there’s room for improvement. Adding some positivity to the mix can’t hurt. I will continue to document more of the good things that happen, too.
